Enduring Love
Our love was conceived in sweet dreams,
floating on a crystal sea of make believe.
We were as if in the Garden of Eden;
I was as Adam...and you were my Eve.
Oh, how we yearned for our future
'...and the two shall become one.'
We'd give birth to so many children;
life would be carefree...and fun.
You had the kids' names all chosen;
had names for twenty or more!
We cried; we laughed, and we joked,
and planned to cuddle for ever more.
You screamed and jumped when I tickled you,
and giggled as we romped on the floor.
I could never ever imagine
that soon we'd be no more.
As Tony and Maria in 'West Side Story,'
our love was just not to be.
When life's reality seized it's vicious hold,
you broke your hold with me.
Dedicated to a dream that could not be
